Smokin’ We all know that cigarettes can hurt us; they can lead to emphysema, heart disease, lung cancer, and a whole bunch of other nasty diseases. But did you know they have sexual side effects also? In addition to being super addictive, smoking cigarettes can lead to decreased blood circulation leading to impotence! That's right, taking a drag can lead to being a drag in bed… and no one wants that! Tobacco can have serious impacts for those of us who are HIV positive also. Smoking can lead to needing meds sooner and failure of HIV meds to adequately work on fighting the infection. Here is the low down: According to studies, HIV infected smokers get an AIDS diagnosis twice as fast as non-smokers and smokers are twice as likely to die of AIDS complications. There are less severe things that smoking can lead to, but can have a huge impact on your sex life… among other things, gingivitis and gum disease. The tobacco
industry has flooded the gay population with advertising, hoping to
take advantage of our brand loyalty. So far, it has worked, with twice
the smoking rates in the LGBT community as compared to the hetero community.
